Children

Children

Our children's work is a big part of WWSBC. Creating an exciting, engaging and thought-provoking programme that brings the reality of following God to the fore is always at the heart of this important ministry area. Impacting children and their families with a sense of belonging and the knowledge that they are a valuable part of God's kingdom is what we are about!

Midweek

Boys Brigade meets every Friday from 6PM - Age 5-18

Girls Brigade meets every Wednesday from 6:15PM - Age 5-18

Little Ark

Ages 0-4 years

Little Ark toddler group meets every Tuesday during term time from 1.15pm until 2.45pm. The cost is £1 per child and includes refreshments.

Little Ark music time meets every Thursday from 9.30am until 11.00am for music, singing and crafts. The cost is £1 per child and includes refreshments.

Sunday mornings for children

We value children. On a Sunday morning we offer a fun and creative children's programme with age specific groups designed to help the children discover and learn more about how much God loves us, what it means to follow the way of Jesus and what role they can play in that in our communities. Each group uses a mix of creative stories, music, craft and games to enable the children to explore and respond to the week's theme.

Creche | 0-3 years

We have a fully staffed creche made up of volunteers who care for both babies and toddlers up to the age of three.

Blue Lights | 3-Reception

When reaching their third birthday children can move into our blue lights group - a group specifically geared to our younger children where they can discover that they belong to God and that Jesus loves them through stories, play times, crafts, singing and games.

Green Lights | school years 1-2

Green Lights is for our children in years 1 and 2 and provides an action packed space for the children to learn that God loves them, creatively engage with Bible stories and explore what it means to follow Jesus. All through role play, games and craft - all linked to the message of the week.

Purple Lights | school years 3-4

Purple Lights is for our children in years 3 and 4 and ensures they enjoy learning about God's love for us, explore ways of worshipping God and discover the exciting opportunity of having a relationship with Jesus.

Red Lights | school years 5-6

Red Lights is for our oldest children, in school years 5 and 6. We aim to provide a space where they can encounter God through a mix of drama, stories, music and quizzes in a fun and dynamic style with the emphasis on developing and growing their relationship with Jesus.

All volunteers working with children and young people have a current DBS check. To assist us in the safeguarding of children registration is essential when leaving your child.

Small Groups

Small Groups

Small groups provide a place to share life, be discipled and build relationships. It's also the place to grow spiritually and develop the gifts that God has given you. They enable us to be part of a small community where we can love, pray and care for one another.

We have small groups that meet in both West Wickham and Shirley, that meet on different days and times of the week.

If you would like to find our more or be part of a small group, please contact us below.

Newcomers Dinner

Newcomers Dinner

Newcomers Dinner

Once a quarter we run a Newcomers' Welcome Supper for those who are visiting or who have joined the church within the previous few months. We enjoy a great three course meal together, listen to a brief presentation about church life and have a time for Q&A. It's a great opportunity to meet new people, find out more about life at WWSBC and how you can get connected into the community, and look together about what membership is all about. The evening is completely free of charge - it's our welcome gift to you.

If you would like to know when the next newcomers' supper is taking place please contact the church office on 020 8777 5705 or email us at office@wwsbc.org.uk

Over 55's

Over 55's

We have many things going on in the week for those over 55. This not only provides opportunity to meet together at a variety of social occasions but also to show Christian care for each other as circumstances arise.

Lunch Club

The lunch club guests are a very friendly group and enjoy the opportunity to get out, meet other people and enjoy a very tasty, hot meal prepared by our professional chef. A particularly pleasant part of the week for those who are perhaps lonely, have health problems or are unable to get out very much. Lunch club takes place every Monday at 12pm and costs £6. Transport is £3 but may not be available immediately. Please contact the church office to book.

Art Group

The group provides a place where people interested in drawing and painting can meet together. Although it is not a teaching class the group helps and encourages one another. The group meets on a Tuesday at 9.45am and welcomes friends, neighbours and the local community to join.

Wednesday Fellowship

Wednesday Fellowship welcomes people of all ages from the church, other local churches and the community. The meeting includes fellowship, worship and prayer with a speaker from Christian congregations, charities, local churches and occasionally a subject of interest. The meeting closes after an hour and is followed by tea and biscuits and a time to socialise. The group meets at 2.15pm every other week. Please see the calendar for details.
